The Reason Postal Services Worldwide Suspended Shipping
If you’ve been following along, you know the journey hasn’t been simple. For years, our handmade treasures from Hungary entered the U.S. duty-free thanks to the $800 de minimis threshold. But recently, everything changed.
Trump’s tariff policies ended this exemption for many countries, including ours. When the executive order went into effect at the end of August, USPS had no system in place to collect tariffs from US customers on low-value shipments.
As a result, postal services worldwide suspended shipping to the United States altogether to avoid extra fees for customers and losing parcels due to unpaid duties.
